"A lot of people may come and go in this game, but as long as you get to put on that jersey everyday, you still have a chance"

Douglas, Arizona -  There are people all over the world who have played the game of baseball.  Whether it be in an open field, on a make shift sandlot, or on a plush green manicured infield.  Few however, can say they are still in love with the game, no matter the field of play.
Albert Ambriz, is one of those people.
Having grown up in Oxnard, California and playing baseball there, Ambriz parlayed that into a college career at Cal State-Los Angeles.
"When I was young, I was fortunate enough to be taught the game by some great coaches and former pros."
Yet, his learning did not stop at the high school level.  "When I got to Cal State, our coach taught us 'The Game'.  In the classroom we went over rules and situations that one does not have happen in a regular game." Ambriz feels this gave him an edge, both then and now.
At the age of 32, Ambriz is still raring to go.  His ability to still turn on a 96mph fastball and his speed to go along with his lifetime .314 batting average created via doubles into the gap, make him a viable player for well into his late 30's.
Currently he is looking for his next team for the 2010 season.  Along his lengthy career, Ambriz spent time in 2001 in the Northern Norte Sonora also known as the Sonora Northern League.  He then spent the next two years in Aguaprieta as well as two years in Chiuahua and Empalme.  He also was picked to play in the former Arizona-New Mexico league for the Bisbee Copper Kings.
Albert's best year was in 2005 when he hit for over .400 with 8 homeruns and 25 doubles.
While he still has the ability to play, Ambriz feels that, "as long as you get to put on that jersey everyday, you still have a chance".
With his long career behind him and his new adventures ahead of him, Ambriz is comfortable in knowing that his family is behind him.  His wife and three children have been with him from the start and they realize the sacrifices that need to be made to pursue his baseball career.
With the new Southwestern League coming into play in June of 2011, Ambriz will be a contact point for those interested in playing or assisting with the Douglas-Cananea team.
For some players, 'The Love of The Game' will never cease.
